New Year street book festival in HCM City slated for Jan 27 – Feb 2

The 2025 New Year Book Street Festival will take place in Le Loi street of Ho Chi Minh City from January 27 to February 2, showcasing nearly 68,000 book titles, according to the municipal Department of Information and Communications.

HCM City (VNA) –🌜 The 2025 New Year Book Street Festival will take place in Le Loi street of Ho Chi Minh City from January 27 to February 2, showcasing nearly 68,000 book titles, according to the municipal Department of Information and Communications.

Themed “Non song gam hoa, vui xuan thai hoa” (Beauty of nation, enjoying peaceful spring), the festival is expected to attract 22 exhibitors. Notably, the event will also have a space to introduce New Year poems, and articles by late President Ho Chi Minh, documents and images on, and works by late Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. The event will also exhibit photos, and publications commemorating the 95th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) (February 3, 1930 – 2025), the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and the National Day of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 -2025) and 50th anniversary of Southern Liberation and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 – 2025).
More than 160 exchange programmes, interactive sessions, recreational activities, and hands-on experiences will be organised as part of the festival. The highlight will be a series of events featuring reading culture ambassadors and award-winning authors from the 2024 National Book Awards, the department said.
About 20,000 of books to be distributed to festival-goers for free at a “lucky books” programme as a token of gratitude and a wish for luck from the organisers and participating publishers. A large collection of rare, valuable, and special edition books, including unique, one-of-a-kind books printed on distinctive paper materials, will also be displayed and introduced to the public at the light technology exhibition hall. Cultural and artistic spaces in the festival are creatively designed to blend tradition with modernity, combining book exhibition with technology demonstrations, providing a unique and engaging experience for visitors. This year marks the 15-year journey of the festival - one of the key cultural and artistic events to welcome the Lunar New Year in HCM City./.
