Hanoi (VNA) – Minister of Transport Nguyen Van The has signed a decision to announce alist of projects to build sections of the North-South Expressway in the eastduring 2017-2021.
They include Mai Son-National Highway 45, National Highway 45-Nghi Son, NghiSon-Dien Chau, Dien Chau-Bai Vot, Nha Trang-Cam Lam, Cam Lam-Vinh Hao, VinhHao-Phan Thiet and Phan Thiet-Dong Nai, which will be constructed at a totalcost of more than 104 trillion VND (4.6 billion USD) under the public-privatepartnership (PPP) model.
The minister said the projects aim to meet demand for transportation and form theNorth-South Expressway that connects economic and political centres, helpingpromote socio-economic development.
The ministry saida feasibility report on the projects has been completed. Meanwhile, investmentand construction work is expected to be completed in 2021.-VNA
The PM decided on the final investment plan for the ambitious 1,372-km North-South expressway project, which will cost 13.6 billion USD over three phases spanning from 2017 to 2028 and beyond.
The Ministry of Transport should consider the possibility of cost overruns as it prepares to build a 654km section of the North-South expressway, NA deputies said at the ongoing fourth session of the 14th National Assembly in Hanoi on November 8.
The Government plans to submit to the National Assembly a pre-feasibility study on a project to construct some sections in easterly North-South Expressway.
With 83.1 percent of approval, the National Assembly approved a resolution on investment policy for the construction of some road sections in the eastern route of the North-South Expressway in 2017-2020 at the ongoing fourth session of the 14th legislature in Hanoi on November 22.
