Thanh nien (Young People) newspaper and General Director of KangarooGroup Nguyen Thanh Phuong have won ASEAN youth awards for theirexcellent contributions to the country and the regional community.
A ceremony to present the ASEAN Ten Accomplished Youth Organisations(ASEAN TAYO) and the ASEAN Youth Award was held in Hanoi on November12 as part of the 19th ASEAN Youth Day, hosted by the NationalCommittee on Youth of Vietnam (NCYV).
Addressing the event,First Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union CentralCommittee Nguyen Dac Vinh, head of the NCYV, said the ASEAN Youth Daymanifests a joint determination to honour organisations and individualswith outstanding performances in upholding the role and strength of theyouth in their countries and the ASEAN region at large.
NCYVhas been working with youth organisations inside and outside the countryto create favourable conditions for the youth to perfect themselves inboth physically and spiritually, thus gradually improving theirleadership and international integration skills, he added.
Vinhaffirmed Vietnam’s continued contributions to building ASEAN into aharmonious, friendly and united community for stability, peace anddevelopment.
He took the occasion to convey deep sympathy tovictims of typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines, calling upon ASEANyouth organizations to have practical initiatives and activities to helpthem surmount disaster consequences.
