Over 3,000 corruption, economic and smuggling cases uncovered in H1
The public security force uncovered more than 3,000 corruption, economic and smuggling cases, with more than 4,900 individuals involved, in the first half of this year, heard a press conference held by the Ministry of Public Security in Hanoi on July 8.

Hanoi (VNA) - The public security force uncovered more than 3,000 corruption, economic and smuggling cases, with more than 4,900 individuals involved, in the first half of this year, heard a press conference held by the Ministry of Public Security in Hanoi on July 8.
The numbers of cases and defendants rose by 21.63% and 47.12%, respectively, compared to the same period last year.
According to Deputy Minister Tran Quoc To, the fight against crimes has been intensified as the ministry discovered ever more complex methods used by criminals. In the first six months, the ministry launched investigations into over 22,022 criminal cases relating to social order, 3.36% higher than the target set by the National Assembly.
The ministry sped up the investigations and handling of major cases and new cases, said To.
The public security force has taken drastic measures to implement the Government's Project 06 on developing the application of resident data, e-identification and authentication for national digital transformation. The rate of online public service provision in the period reached 97.13%.
Regarding rescue operations, the ministry performed 581 rescues and saved 362 people.
Progress was also seen in the communications work, institution and law building and perfection, external affairs and international cooperation, Party building and the personnel work, the deputy minister said.

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong chaired a meeting of the standing board of the Central Steering Committee on Prevention and Control of Corruption and Negative Phenomena on November 22, during which he stressed the need to find solutions to the slow settlement of corruption cases.
Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court Nguyen Hoa Binh has described the settlement of corruption cases as positive steps by the courts in 2022, noting that major cases will be brought to trial next year.
The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) discovered 523 corruption cases by the end of September this year, an increase of 40.97% compared with the same period last year, according to the latest report of the ministry.
