A training course for teachers of Vietnamese and those eager to become teachersof Vietnamese opened in Paris on May 10.
The 2-week course, jointly runby the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) and the Vietnamese CultureCentre in France , will provide the necessary knowledge and modern teachingmethods to enable trainees to become competent teachers of the Vietnameselanguage.
The lecturers on the course are experienced trainers from theMOET who have a depth of experience in teaching Vietnamese and who are also theauthors of two Vietnamese textbooks called “Funny Vietnamese” and “TheVietnamese Homeland”.
After the course, the trainees will receivecertificates issued by the MOET.
On addressing at the course’s openingceremony, Thérèse Nguyen Van Ky, the Chairwomen of the Society of VietnameseExpatriates in France, said that she hoped that the trainees will use what theyhave learnt during the course to teach Vietnamese in France, which will alsohelp to strengthen ties between Vietnamese expatriates who live in France andtheir homeland.
Keeping Vietnamese alive in Overseas Vietnamesecommunities, especially in those who were born and grew up overseas has becomean issue of concern to the Vietnamese Government. At present, speakingVietnamese in the third and fourth Vietnamese generations overseas is in declineas few have the chance to practice.
To deal with the situation, theVietnamese Government has assigned the State Committee for Overseas Vietnameseto design a scheme to promote the teaching of Vietnamese to Overseas Vietnamesecommunities between now and 2020./.
