Hanoi (VNA) – Papua New Guinea’s Immigration and Citizenship Authority (ICA) onJune 17 announced expansion of its electronic-visa programme for members of theAsia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum as an effort to welcome moreforeign visitors.

Papua New Guinea will host the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Port Moresby thisNovember. The ICA said that the e-visa system is now available to all APECeconomies.

Minister of Immigration and Border Security Petrus Thomas told press that sincethe APEC meeting in 2018, all agencies in Papua New Guinea have engaged withtechnology and are now pursuing digital transformation of services. Thus, allAPEC members, including Russia, will have access to an online visa to visit thecountry without the need to come to Papua New Guinea Embassy or HighCommission.

He added that the has country also approved expansion to a range ofCommonwealth member states from all over the world, comprising India, SouthAfrica and Cyprus.-VNA
