Party Central Committee discusses personnel for next tenure

During the four-day meeting, members of the committee are also todebate the local government model, the Long Thanh Airportproject, as well as a report on performance of the Politburo since the10th session.

Addressing the event, Party GeneralSecretary Nguyen Phu Trong said together with preparing documents forthe congress, making personnel plan for the Party Central Committee inthe next tenure is also a significant task, requiring great efforts fromthe committee’s members.

“A strong Party CentralCommittee - the highest leadership of the Party between the twocongresses which can play well the role of a political leading body andsolidarity centre for the whole Party and nation, will decide the futureof the Party and the country,” he stressed.

Regarding thenumber of delegates and designation of delegates of Party organisationsto attend the 12 th Party Congress, the Party leader said thedelegates should be able to represent the brainpower of the whole Party.

On the model of local government, the Party chief notedthat the renovation of local government is significant to the country’sDoi Moi cause as well as the efficiency of the socialist law-governedState.

He said he hopes during the session, the committeemembers will actively contribute opinions on the issue, especially theselection of a local government model, supporting the National Assemblyin building a Law on Local Government.

“We shouldcarefully analyse the strong and weak points as well as the feasibilityand suitability of each option while taking into consideration thesituations in terms of geographic conditions, population andsocio-economic conditions of localities and regions,” he said.

Over the Long Thanh international airport project in southern Dong Naiprovince, the Party General Secretary said this is an important nationalproject with great impacts on many sectors and areas as well as thelivelihood and living environment of tens of thousands people in theproject site.

Therefore, it is crucial for the committeeto draw out orientations assisting the National Assembly on decidinginvestment for the project in conformity with the law, he said.

Specifically, the committee should debate the necessity, feasibility ofthe project, as well as ground clearance and resettlement plans,ensuring livelihood and living environment for locals, together withchoosing technology and operation and management model, as well associo-economic efficiency of the project, he asked.-VNA
