Hanoi (VNA) – The 13th Party CentralCommittee opened its fourth session in Hanoi on October 4 under the chair ofParty General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong who delivered an opening remark.
In the morning, the committee's members observed a minute’ssilence in commemoration of civilians, soldiers and officers who lost theirlives during the COVID-19 pandemic before the plenary meeting started and was presided over by Politburo member, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
Politburo member, Permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s SecretariatVo Van Thuong, on behalf of the Politburo, delivered a report on the agendaof the session.
Later, the Party Central Committee's members debated in groups reports on theimplementation of the socio-economic development plan for 2021 and the draft socio-economicdevelopment plan for the next year.
They also reviewed the implementation of the State budgetplan this year, the State budget estimate in 2022 and the financial and Statebudget plan from 2022 – 2024, and discussed the delay of the starting time forthe implementation of salary policy reforms under Resolution No. 27-NQ/TW of the7th plenum of the 12th Party Central Committee, the recent efforts in fightingCOVID-19 and related policies, tasks and solutions for the coming time.
The Party Central Committee's members continued to work on these contents in groups in theafternoon of October 4./.
The Secretariat of the Party Central Committee on October 1 looked into disciplinary measures against the Standing Board of the Party Committee of the Vietnam Coast Guard (VCG) in the 2015-2020 tenure and a number of individuals for their violations.
The fourth session of the 13th Party Central Committee will focus on sketching out policies, targets, tasks and solutions to strengthen Party building and rectification, stop and drive back the degradation in political ideology, morality and lifestyle as well as signs of "self-evolution" and "self-transformation" among members, stated Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the opening of the session on October 4.
Stronger efforts and determination are required to achieve and surpass the set targets, especially in the eradication of makeshift and dilapidated houses nationwide, the acceleration of public investment disbursement, and the implementation of nationally important transport projects, PM Pham Minh Chinh noted.
The trip will be made at the invitations of Chinese Premier Li Qiang and WEF President and CEO Børge Brende, according to an announcement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Long spoke highly of the dynamic, positive, and comprehensive development of Vietnam – Russia relations in recent years. In particular, in April 2023, the two sides successfully carried out a joint operation that dismantled a major organised, transnational drug trafficking ring involving both Vietnamese and Cambodian suspects.
