Party Central Committee to convene 8th session next week

Hanoi (VNA) – The 12th Communist Party of Vietnam(CPV) Central Committee will organise its eighth session from October 2-6.

Deputy head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission forInformation and Education Bui Truong Giang spoke at a press conference onSeptember 28 that the session will review the 10-year implementation of theresolution of the10th Party Central Committee’s 4th session on the Vietnam Maritime Strategy towards 2020.

Reports on the country’s socio-economic situation and Statebudget in 2018 and a socio-economic development plan and budget estimates for2019 are also on the agenda.

The session is slated to examine draft regulations relatedto the responsibility for setting example of Party members and officials,especially Politburo members, members of the Party Central Committee’sSecretariat and the Party Central Committee; and consider the establishment ofsub-committees in preparation for the 13th Party Congress.

Personnel work is another item on the working agenda, alongwith several other important issues.

The Party Central Committee is expected to issue conclusionson the socio-economic development situation in 2018 and a socio-economicdevelopment plan and budget estimates for 2019, and adopt a resolution ofVietnam’s sustainable sea-based economic development strategy.

According to Vu Thanh Son, deputy head of the PersonnelTraining Department under the Party Central Committee’s Organisation Commission,work on the draft regulations on the responsibility for setting example ofParty members and officials started at the beginning of this year.

Son said the draft regulations emphasized the role ofPolitburo members, members of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat and theParty Central Committee.

Answering a query on handling the responsibility of severalParty members involved in the case regarding MobiFone’s purchase of 95 percentof the shares of AVG Audiovisual JSC, deputy chief of the Party CentralCommittee Office Le Quang Vinh stated that the discipline of former members ofthe Party Central Committee and members of the Party Central Committee who holdhigh positions must be considered and decided by the Party Central Committee.

Therefore, the AVG case will be put in the working agenda ofthis session, he added.

Regarding the introduction of personnel to the StatePresident post, Vinh said the Party Central Committee will consider theintroduction of personnel to the position based on authorised offices’preparations and in accordance with the Party’s regulations.-VNA
