Hanoi (VNA) – The 13th Party Central Committee convened an extraordinary meeting in Hanoi on December 30 to consider and give ideas on personnel affairs.
Before the meeting, the committee observed a minute’s silence in memory of Nguyen Van Hung, member of the Party Central Committee and Vice Chairman of its Inspection Commission, who passed away last month.
Later, the committee voted to relieve Pham Binh Minh from the posts of Politburo member and member of the 13th Party Central Committee, and Vu Duc Dam from the post of member of the 13th Party Central Committee.
The committee also offered opinions on two candidates for the Politburo to nominate to the 15th National Assembly for approving the post of Deputy Prime Minister for the 2021-2026 tenure in line with regulations.
The committee also decided to expel Tran Dinh Thanh, former memb𝓰er of the Party Central Committee, former Secretary of the Party Committee and former Chairman of the People’s Council of Dong Nai province, from the Party as a disciplinary measure./.
The Inspection Commission of the Party Central Committee held its 21st session on October 18-19, meting out disciplinary measures on some Party organisations and Party members that have violated the Party’s regulations and the State’s law.
The Party Central Committee’s Secretariat has issued a warning for the Party Civil Affairs Board of the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) in the 2016 - 2021 tenure and former Minister Phung Xuan Nha for their wrongdoings.
The Inspection Commission of the Party Central Committee held the 22nd meeting on November 1-2, deciding disciplinary measures on a number of Party organisations and officials.

During the negotiations, the US highly evaluated Vietnam’s goodwill and efforts, affirmed its appreciation for the bilateral relationship, acknowledged Vietnam’s proposals and concerns, and considered these an important basis for continuing discussions and moving towards a final agreement.
The Chairman stressed the need for stricter fiscal discipline, faster digital transformation, and more efficient management of State budget revenues and expenditures.
