Hanoi (VNA) – General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV)Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong chaired a red-carpet welcome ceremony forGeneral Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and StatePresident Xi Jinping on the afternoon of November 12.

Theceremony, held at the Presidential Palace, was the highest ritual for a head ofstate.

Followingthe ceremony, the two leaders held talks at the headquarters of the CPVCentral Committee.

Trong spokehighly of Xi’s visit and his attendance at the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meetingin central Da Nang city.

He congratulated his guest on the success of the CPC’s 19th NationalCongress and on his re-election as the General Secretary of the CPC CentralCommittee, the 19th tenure.

The visitaffirms the Chinese Party and State’s treasuring of consolidating and boostingrelations with Vietnam, and is an important milestone that charts a newdevelopment course for the two countries, further deepening their comprehensivestrategic cooperative partnership, for peace, stability, cooperation anddevelopment in the region and the world.

PartyGeneral Secretary and President Xi Jinping is on a State visit to Vietnam fromNovember 12-13. The visit was made under the invitation of Vietnam’s PartyGeneral Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and President Tran Dai Quang.-VNA
