Party chief highlights firms’ role in Vietnam-China relations

Beijing (VNA) – PartyGeneral Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has affirmed that Vietnam attachesimportance to its economic, trade and investment ties with China, and createsfavourable conditions for businesses of both countries to enhance theircooperation for the development of each nation as well as the bilateralrelationship.

During a meeting with representativesof Chinese businesses in Hangzhou city of Zhejiang province on January 15, the VietnameseParty chief said he was delighted to visit Zhejiang, one of the mostoutstanding Chinese localities in terms of start-up movements, dynamism andinnovation.

He noted Vietnam and China arethe largest trade partners of each other, adding that as an emerging marketwith a population of 92 million and an annual average growth rate of 6-7percent, Vietnam is considered one of the most potential and attractive marketsin terms of foreign investment attraction.

General Secretary Trong welcomed Chineseenterprises investing in Vietnam with projects using advanced and environmentally-friendlytechnologies, with a priority given to projects in the fields of agriculture,high technology, supporting industry, clean and renewable energy, technologicaltransfer and high-quality human resource development.

The Vietnamese leader hoped thatthe two countries’ businesses would further contribute to the development ofincreasingly balanced and healthy bilateral trade as well as promoting tourismto enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the Vietnamese andChinese people.

He expected that Chinese firmswould improve the efficiency of cooperation with Vietnamese partners for mutualbenefits in the foreseeable future.

Vice Governor of Zhejiangprovince Liang Liming, expressed her hope that the meeting will help increasepartnerships among Chinese and Vietnamese enterprises and localities indifferent fields such as high technology, logistics, agricultural production,processing and export while enhancing the friendship and exchanges between thetwo nations’ peoples, especially young generations.

She told her guests that Zhejianghas long partnered with Vietnam’s central province of Thua Thien-Hue and otherlocalities. As many as 26 Vietnamese companies have so far invested in Zhejiangwhile Zhejiang firms have poured more than 1.6 billion USD in more than 180 projectsin Vietnam.

Liang believed that with theguidance of the two governments and market economy regulations, cooperative tiesbetween Chinese and Vietnamese businesses and localities will be more bustling andeffective.

On this occasion, Vietnam’s ThuHa company and China’s Huaxia Xingfu signed a contract to develop an ecologicalurban area in Hoa Lac of Hanoi.

In the morning of the same day,the Party leader met staff of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Shanghai andvisited Wan Shi Li Corporation in Zhejiang./.
