Party chief holds phone talks with CPP President, Cambodian PM

Hanoi (VNA) – General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong on June 27 held phone talks with President of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) and Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen.
The phone talks took place on the occasion of the 71st founding anniversary of the CPP (June 28) and the 55th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Cambodia diplomatic ties, and right after the success of the elections of the fifth-tenure commune and ward councils in Cambodia.
Trong congratulated the CPP on leading the Cambodian people to gain great and important achievements in all fields over the past 71 years.
He expressed his belief that under the reign of King Norodom Sihamoni, the leadership of the Senate, National Assembly and Government of Cambodia with the core role of the CPP led by its President and Prime Minister Hun Sen, the Cambodian people will reap more fruits in the process of national building, safeguarding and development.
Hun Sen thanked Vietnam for coordinating with and supporting Cambodia in successfully organising a ceremony to mark 45 years of his journey to overthrow the Pol Pot genocidal regime.
Showing his delight at the great and comprehensive achievements gained by the Vietnamese people under the leadership of the CPV headed by General Secretary Trong, he said, expressing his belief that Vietnam would obtain new and greater results, and successfully realise the 13th National Party Congress’s Resolution.
The two leaders informed each other on the situation of each Party and each country.
They stressed the significance and importance of solidarity and mutual support between the two Parties, States and people of Vietnam and Cambodia, affirming to work together to maintain and nurture the bilateral ties.
🍬 The two leaders also appreciated the significance of the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Year 2022, especially when the two sides recently coordinated in celebrating the 55th founding anniversary of diplomatic relations and 45 years of PM Hun Sen's journey to overthrow the Pol Pot genocidal regime.
Trong took the occasion to invite Hun Sen and other Cambodian leaders to visit Vietnam. Hun Sen also invited Trong and other Vietnamese leaders to visit his country at an appropriate time./.
On the recent days, major press agencies of Cambodia have run a lot of articles spreading a message about the good neighbourliness, time-honoured friendship, comprehensive cooperation and long-term sustainability between the country and Vietnam, on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic ties (June 24).
The Permanent Delegations of Vietnam and Cambodia to the United Nations (UN) co-organised a ceremony to mark the 55 years of the two countries’ diplomatic relations on June 24 in New York.
On June 24-25, prestigious Cambodian news agencies such as Rasmei Kampuchea, Fresh News, CEN (Cambodia Express News) published an interview granted by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Prak Sokhonn on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the establishment of Cambodia-Vietnam diplomatic relations (June 24) and the Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Year 2022.
The trip will be made at the invitations of Chinese Premier Li Qiang and WEF President and CEO Børge Brende, according to an announcement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Long spoke highly of the dynamic, positive, and comprehensive development of Vietnam – Russia relations in recent years. He affirmed that the Vietnamese Party and State place great importance on further strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia in a substantive and effective manner, in line with the development needs of both nations.
At the conference, participants reported that the Government has so far issued 28 decrees on the delegation of responsibilities and powers between the central Government and two-tier local administrations. Several localities have already piloted the new governance model.

The UN Secretary-General praised Vietnam’s remarkable achievements in socio-economic development and international integration in recent years, noting that the country has emerged as a model in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), promoting international peace and security, and engaging in key UN processes.
Nghia affirmed that this is a milestone of special significance, affirming and honouring the the Vietnamese revolutionary press’s glorious tradition of 100 years of serving the revolutionary cause of the Party, serving the Fatherland, and serving the people.
The Party and State of Vietnam always attach great importance to and give top priority to the development of Vietnam–China relations. NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man stressed the need to accelerate the application of artificial intelligence and smart teaching equipment, innovate teaching and assessment methods, and further improve the quality of formal education.

Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien welcomed the proposals put forward by the US side and reiterated Vietnam’s request for consideration of key areas of interest, including reciprocal tariff policies and access for Vietnamese key export products to the US market.
Deputy PM Le Thanh Long proposed countries promote shared values, including building trust, sincerity, and solidarity among nations and peoples; fostering cooperation spirit and responsible behaviour as well as upholding international law and the UN Charter; and placing people at the centre and as the goal, the key player, and the driving force of all policies.
The show, together with a grand parade to be held silmutaneously at Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi, will celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution, the National Day, and the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA).
In particular, in April 2023, the two sides successfully carried out a joint operation that dismantled a major organised, transnational drug trafficking ring involving both Vietnamese and Cambodian suspects.
