Yangon (VNA) – Party General Secretary Nguyen PhuTrong welcomed the establishment of the Myanmar-Vietnam Friendship Association inJuly this year and asked the association to assist with the implementation ofbilateral agreements.
He made the comment while receiving Chairman of theassociation U Tint Swai in Yangon on August 26, as part of his current Statevisit to Myanmar.
Underscoring valuable traditional ties between the twocountries, the Party chief said Vietnam appreciates Myanmar’s support duringher past struggle for national independence.
He noted his current visit aims at elevating bilateralrelations to new heights, adding that the two sides have issued ajointstatement on establishing a comprehensive cooperative partnership to reinforcecooperation in politics, trade, security-defence, and people-to-peopleexchanges, as well as at regional and international forums.
Trong said he hopes the two countries’ friendshipassociations will share experiences and hold people-to-people exchanges to boostmutual understanding and amity between the two nations.
For his part, U Tint Swai expressed his delight at growingVietnam – Myanmar relationship.
He said his association needs to learn from Vietnamesepartners via experience exchanges on international cooperation.
He said his organisation plans to admit Vietnamese investorsin Myanmar as members and to work with its Vietnamese counterpart to intensify bilateralfriendship activities.
The chairman pledged to do his best for increasing the engagementbetween the two Governments and their people.

During the negotiations, the US highly evaluated Vietnam’s goodwill and efforts, affirmed its appreciation for the bilateral relationship, acknowledged Vietnam’s proposals and concerns, and considered these an important basis for continuing discussions and moving towards a final agreement.
The Chairman stressed the need for stricter fiscal discipline, faster digital transformation, and more efficient management of State budget revenues and expenditures.
The ministry has instructed Vietnamese representative agencies in Israel, Iran, as well as those in neighbouring countries, to closely monitor the situation and request local authorities to ensure absolute safety for Vietnamese citizens living, studying, and working in high-risk areas.
