Hanoi (VNA) –Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong affirmed on August 17 that the PartyCentral Committee and its Secretariat, Politburo and permanent Secretariatmembers always stand side by side with administration and people of Ho Chi MinhCity and closely follow the situation to give comprehensive instructions to the city.
Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen conveyed those words from the Party leader at a teleconference heldby the municipal Party Committee to launch urgent COVID-19 prevention andcontrol tasks.
According to Nen, the Party General Secretary said he closely follows the pandemic situation in the city and southern localities, and hailed the municipal Party Committee, administration and people for their efforts to cope with the pandemic over the past more than two months.
Trong lauded the front-line forces in the fight against the pandemic and thanked the people, intellectuals, businesscommunity and philanthropists who have been joining thefight together with the municipal Party Committee,administration and people.

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam’s largest COVID-19 hot spot at present, is building a plan with the aim for pandemic control before September 15 with two stages, Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong said on August 15.
A signing ceremony was held in Ho Chi Minh City on August 18 to provide 1 million meals worth 25 billion VND (1.08 million USD) for the poor and those hit by COVID-19 pandemic in the southern metropolis in August and September.
