Hanoi, (VNA) – Party GeneralSecretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong had a meeting with over 50 representativesof outstanding students in the 2017-2018 academic year in Hanoi on November 3.
The leader praised the students forsetting bright examples not only in studying but also in making good deeds,such as 11th grader Ngo Minh Hieu in the central province of ThanhHoa who has carried a friend with disability on his back to school for manyyears. Other examples include Pham Duc Anh from Hanoi who won gold medals attwo international chemistry Olympiads.
President Trong also highlighted the educationalsector’s achievements, which contributed to the national development.
The leader noted that whiletalent is very important, virtue is the foundation of a person. He said theeducation sector should pay attention to comprehensive education of children.
He asked the sector to continuepushing ahead with the fundamental and comprehensive reform of education andtraining to meet the requirements of the national cause of industrialization andmodernization.
The students pledged to do theirbest to become good citizens and contribute as much as possible to the motherland.-VNA
This year, all 38 students of seven teams who took part in regional and international Olympiads won medals, including 13 gold, 14 silver and 11 bronze medals, according to the Ministry of Education and Training.
A ceremony to honour students wining prizes in Olympiads and regional and international science and technology competitions was held by the Ministry of Education and Training in the Hanoi-Amsterdam Gifted High School on October 19.
The programmes have brought about positive changes to rural infrastructure, comprehensively improved the material and spiritual lives of farmers, and contributed to Vietnam's economic restructuring, said PM Pham Minh Chinh.
The festival highlighted the contributions and robust development of Vietnam's revolutionary press over the past century while promoting press products and showcasing the creativity of Vietnamese journalists.
The programme on sustainable poverty reduction has achieved its annual targets for reducing the poverty rate as assigned by the National Assembly and the Government. It has fulfilled five specific objectives and five five-year goals, and met nine out of 12 indicators related to addressing basic social service shortages.
UNICEF stands ready to support the Government in implementing this important law and in continuing to invest in teachers as the cornerstone of a resilient, inclusive, and high-quality education system for all children.

Today, the press for foreign service has evolved into a distinct, irreplaceable force, bridging Vietnam with the world and portraying a nation that is stable, peace-loving, and fully integrated into the international community.
At a review conference held on June 21, Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Van Sinh praised the province’s scientific, coordinated, and flexible approach. He noted that the early completion reflects the strong commitment of local authorities, the business community, philanthropists, and residents in improving housing conditions for disadvantaged groups.
