Hanoi (VNA) – General Secretary and President Nguyen PhuTrong on September 1 offered incense in memory of President Ho Chi Minh atHouse 67 in the Ho Chi Minh relic site, where the President passed away onSeptember 2, 1969.

Talking to the staff at the relic site, the Party leader and Presidentexpressed his joy at seeing people from all corners of the country as well asabroad come to pay respect to the late President at his mausoleum.

He appreciated the work of the relic site’s staff in preserving valuabledocuments and artefacts about President Ho Chi Minh’s life and revolutionarycareer, and popularizing the President’s thought and teachings.

President Ho Chi Minh ledthe Vietnamese nation to success in the struggle for national independence. 

On September 2, 1945, he read the Declaration ofIndependence, declaring to the world the foundation of the Democratic Republicof Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Before passing away on September 2, 1969, Ho Chi Minh spentfour years from May 1965 to May 1969 towrite his testament, which has become a guideline for Vietnam’srevolution and development during the past half century.

Many activities, including a national ceremony, havebeen held across the country this year to mark 50-year implementation of thelate President’s testament. -VNA
