Party leader remembered in Brazil, Taiwan

Hanoi (VNA) - As many as 40 delegations, along with many individuals came to the Vietnamese Embassy in Brazil to sign a book of condolences and pay last respects for General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong from July 24 - 26.

The delegations included representatives from Brazil's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, Chamber of Deputies, the Communist Party of Brazil (PCdoB), the Workers' Party (PT), the Democratic Labor Party (PDT), the Brazil-Vietnam Friendship Association (ABRAVIET), and the embassies of ASEAN countries, Cuba, China, Russia, the US and the European Union (EU) in Brazil.

Writing in the condolence book, Luciana Santos, Chairman of PCdoB and Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation, said the wisdom and dedication of the late Party leader to the socialist cause in Vietnam will inspire many generations in building prosperity and solidarity.

Meanwhile, Deputy Foreign Minister Eduardo Saboia expressed his deepest condolences over the passing of the Vietnamese Party leader, stressing that the General Secretary's vision toward prosperity and development will live on in every Vietnamese citizen.

Márcio Honaiser, Chairman of the Brazil-Vietnam Parliamentary Group noted that General Secretary Trong was not only a renowned leader but also an outstanding figure who left a great legacy with his significant contributions to Vietnam's development.

Many Vietnamese intellectuals in Taiwan (China) expressed their admiration for the outstanding Party leader of Vietnam, who always showed special concern for the Vietnamese community abroad.

Dr. Le Trong Nghia, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Innovative and Intellectual Network in Taiwan (VIN Taiwan), said the Vietnamese community in Taiwan highly admires and loves General Secretary Trong, appreciating his efforts in combating corruption and enhancing Vietnam's reputation.

The policies of the Party and the State for overseas Vietnamese (OVs) under the leadership of the General Secretary have helped the expatriates feel closer to their homeland and encouraged to contribute to the country's development, he said, adding that the organization of cultural events, and calls for investment and support for education have helped to connect OVs with their compatriots at home.

Meanwhile, Tran Bao Huy, a postgraduate student at the National Taiwan Ocean University praised General Secretary Trong as an exceptionally outstanding leader of Vietnam, who devoted his whole life to the country and the people.

As a young member of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Huy said that General Secretary Trong has always been a shining example for him to follow in terms of morality, thought, and action.
