Party official calls for improving people-to-people diplomacy

Hanoi (VNA) – Politburomember and permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat DinhThe Huynh called for improving the efficiency of people-to-people diplomacy duringa conference in Hanoi on January 18.
The conference on people-to-peoplediplomacy, hosted by the Party Central Committee’s Commission for ExternalRelations, gathered nearly 300 delegates from the Vietnam Fatherland Front andmass organisations, and representatives from ministries, agencies andlocalities.
Speaking at the event, Huynhrequested further strengthening collaboration among mass organisations inpeople-to-people diplomacy, and the coordination between people-to-peoplediplomacy and the Party and State diplomacy to fully tap collective power and servenational interests amid the global integration.
In people-to-people diplomacywork, it is necessary to continue improving the efficiency of external informationservices, he said.
Concluding the event, head of thecommission Hoang Binh Quan hailed recommendations to the work this year,contributing to the common external relations of the Party and State.
On the occasion, the commission forthe first time presented the insignia “For the Cause of People-to-people Diplomacy”to former Vice State President and President of the Vietnam Foundation forPeace and Development (VFPD) Nguyen Thi Binh, VFPD Vice President Trinh NgocThai, Chairman of the Vietnam Committee for Asian-African-Latin AmericanSolidarity and Cooperation Pham Van Chuong, Chairman of the Vietnam-CambodiaFriendship Association Vu Mao and Vice Chairman of the Vietnam-China FriendshipAssociation Bui Hong Phuc.
The Vietnam Union of FriendshipOrganisations, Vietnam Red Cross Society and Vietnam Lawyers’ Associationreceived emulation flags for their achievements in people-to-people diplomacy./.
Major socio-political organisations signed a 2016-2019 cooperation programme for people-to-people diplomacy and overseas Vietnamese affairs at a ceremony in Hanoi on May 18.
The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations met new ambassadors and heads of Vietnam’s overseas representative agencies, asking for their greater efforts to help with people-to-people diplomacy.
