Hanoi (VNA) – Politburo member and head of the Party CentralCommittee’s Economic Commission Nguyen Van Binh hosted Professor Kenichi Ohnofrom Japan’s National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS), andJapanese Ambassador to Vietnam Kunio Umeda on October 26.

Meeting the two Japanese officials, Binh described Japan as one ofVietnam’s leading partners in economy-trade cooperation which benefits peopleof the two countries.

In response, Professor Kenichi Ohno stated his ideas to improveVietnam’s labour productivity, as well as proposed that Japan work with Vietnamin this regard.

Meanwhile, JapaneseAmbassador Kunio Umeda shared his views on the Comprehensive and ProgressiveAgreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) and progress of the urbanrailway projects in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

The Vietnamese official spoke highly of Japan’s experiences inproductivity improvement, adding that they will be helpful and practical forVietnam’s economic development.

Vietnam will continue to stabilise the macro economy, curb inflation andbolster sustainable economic growth, in line with ensuring social welfare andenvironmental protection, he stressed.

With the targets set, the country always treasures and hopes to enhanceits cooperation with Japan, especially in information exchange and Japanesefirms’ investment in Vietnam, which will contribute to the countries’ cooperationin the time to come, said Binh.-VNA
