Passenger on same flight with confirmed COVID-19 case quarantined
A Vietnamese citizen who was on the same flight as a Japanese passenger who tested positive for COVID-19 had been found and quarantined on March 5 morning, according to Ho Chi Minh City’s Centre for Disease Control (CDC).

HCM City (VNA) - A Vietnamese citizen who was on the sameflight as a Japanese passenger who tested positive for COVID-19 had been foundand quarantined on March 5 morning, according to HoChi Minh City’s Centre for Disease Control (CDC).
The office said that after receivinginformation about Flight VN814 with a Japanese passenger suffering fromCOVID-19, municipal authorities immediately identified five passengers enteringVietnam on the same flight.
They include one Vietnamese, three French andone Australian.
The Vietnamese was then taken to a quarantinecentre, and his family members quarantined at home.
The three French people went to Bangkok,whereas the Australian returned to his country.
On March 3, the Japanese passenger boardedVietnam Airlines Flight VN814 with 72 others from Cambodia’s Siem Reap to HCMCity, then took transit Flight VN340 to Japan’s Nagoya City.
After arriving in Japan, he showed symptomsof fever and tested positive for COVID-19.
Flight VN814 carried 67 passengers and sixcabin crew members. A total of 61 passengers had connecting flights on March 3 nightto London, Japan, Busan and Manila. Six passengers checked in at HCM Cityincluding one Vietnamese, three French, one Australian and one Filipino. TheFilipino passenger flew home on March 4./.
The Vietnamese Embassy in Indonesia on March 4 recommended Vietnamese citizens in this country to actively protect themselves and their families from the acute respiratory disease caused by the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19).
All passengers, crewmembers and staff, who had contact with a Japanese passenger tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 on Vietnam Airlines’ VN340 flight, have been put into quarantine, the Health Ministry reported on March 4.
The health sector needs to well prepare preventive measures with focus on early detection, epidemic fencing and quarantine although Vietnam has recorded no new SARS-CoV-2 infection cases since February 13, said Director of the Health Ministry’s Department for Medical Examination and Treatment Luong Ngoc Khue.
Ho Chi Minh City’s Centre for Disease Control (CDC) is coordinating with relevant agencies to verify the identities and addresses of five passengers travelling with the Japanese passenger, who was found to have been infected with the coronavirus, on flight VN814 on March 3.
