The informationwas confirmed at a meeting between a PTVN delegation and President ofthe Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) Vu Xuan Hong inHanoi on March 8.
The organisation will extendcredit loan projects in Quang Tri, provide scholarships for victims ofunexploded bombs and mines and assist social development in areascleared of unexploded ordnance.
At the meeting, theVUFO President praised the efforts made by PTVN to clear unexplodedordnance in the central province of Quang Binh over the years.
He said he hoped that after this visit, PTVN will targetmore joint activities between non-governmental organisations of bothcountries and help Vietnam address the war’s legacy, particularlythe issue of Agent Orange victims.
Impressed withVietnam ’s current development, the PTVN delegates, however, showedtheir concerns about efforts being made to ease post-war difficulties inVietnam .
They talked about the fundraising workfor projects undertaken by PTVN in central Vietnam since 1995 aswell as on how to elevate the relations between Vietnamese and USpeople.
During their visit, the PTVN delegation made afact-finding tour to Quang Tri and met with Vietnamese veterans at theTa Con-Khe Sanh relic site.-VNA
The programmes have brought about positive changes to rural infrastructure, comprehensively improved the material and spiritual lives of farmers, and contributed to Vietnam's economic restructuring, said PM Pham Minh Chinh.
