Hanoi (VNA) – Prime MinisterPham Minh Chinh has emphasised the Government’s consistent viewpoint thatpeople and enterprises are the centre, key players, target, and momentum of digitaltransformation.

PM Chinh was delivering remarks at aprogramme marking the National Digital Transformation Day in Hanoi on October10.

The date of October 10 was designated asthe National Digital Transformation Day by the PM last April.

PM Chinh, who is also chairman of thenational committee for digital transformation, said together with greentransition, digital transformation is an inevitable and objective trend that istaking place strongly.

It helps bring into play the strengthof the country and the era as well as internal and external resources; make three strategic breakthroughs in terms of regulations, infrastructure, and humanresources; promote economic growth; improve labour productivity,competitiveness, and production and business efficiency; reduce productioncosts; streamline administrative procedures, remove bureaucracy, cut downexpenses; and help all-level administrations better governance capacity.

Vietnam has reaped encouragingoutcomes in digital transformation, but there remains much to be done, hepointed out, noting that digital transformation must enable people andenterprises to benefit from public services and social utilities in a moreconvenient, fast, and effective manner.

In his message sent on the occasionof the National Digital Transformation Day, the Government leader demanded focusbe paid on perfecting mechanisms and policies, effectively implementing the nationaldigital transformation strategy, concurrently developing regulations, digitalinfrastructure, digital platforms, and digital human resources, and takingmeasures to promote Vietnam’s positions in the global e-Government, innovation,and competitiveness rankings.

He also ordered raising the rate ofadministrative procedures handled online, improving the quality of onlinepublic services, and pressing on with the plan to apply population data,e-identification, and e-authentication.

In addition, the PM called onenterprises to speed up digitalising production and business activities, investmore in research and development, enhance cooperation with internationalpartners in digital transformation, and harmonise their interests with those ofthe State and people.

He also requested increasingcommunications to encourage state agencies, people, and enterprises to engagein digital transformation, and further assisting people to use online publicservices and digital services safely and effectively.

At the programme, PM Chinh presentedawards to ministries, sectors, localities, enterprises, and individuals withexcellent digital transformation solutions.

In late April, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam signed a decision designating October 10 as the National Digital Transformation Day.

The day will be held every year with the aim to accelerate the implementation of the national digital transformation as well as the National Digital Transformation Programme by 2025, with a vision to 2030, and to raise public awareness on the role, significance and benefits of digital transformation.

It is also to promote the participation of the entire political system and population so as to ensure the success of the work.

The Ministry of Information and Communications is tasked to work with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Ministry of Science and Technology to formulate a specific implementation plan and direct the organisation of the activities in a practical, effective and economical manner.

Other ministries, government agencies and provincial authorities will observe the day in accordance with the general guidelines and their specific conditions.

Media agencies are required to step up communication about the day, create programmes, and honour outstanding agencies, organisations and enterprises in applying new technologies./.

PM calls for cooperation with Sweden in nuclear energy t🌠echnology🧸

The PM revealed Vietnam’s plan to develop nuclear power in the near future, and called on the Swedish side to assist Vietnam in developing and refining legal and policy frameworks for the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes; training and developing human resources; ensuring nuclear safety; and conducting training and drills to improve incident management capabilities.
