Philippine coast guard vessel makes first port visit to Vietnam
This is the first time a ship of the Philippine Coast Guard has visited Vietnam. The visit is of great significance and a practical activity realising the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two forces in January 2024.

Da Nang (VNA) – The vessel BRP Gabriela Silang of the Philippine Coast Guard,♍ with 84 officers and crew members on board led by Captain Eleizer Gonzales Ibarientos, on April 14 docked at Tien Sa port, starting a fou🔴r-day courtesy visit to the central city of Da Nang.
An official welcome ceremony for the Philippine Coast Guard delegation was attended by representatives from the High Command of the Vietnam Coast Guard Region 2, the Da Nang City People’s Committee, the High Command of Military Region 5, the Military Command of Da Nang, the Command of Da Nang Border Guard, the Department of External Affairs, the High Command of the Naval Region 3 and several other relevant agencies under the Ministry of National Defence.

During the visit, the Deputy Commander of the Philippine Coast Guard and the vessel’s commanding offers will meet with representatives of the Da Nang City People’s Committee and the High Command of the Vietnam Coast Guard Region 2.
The Philippine officers and crew members will visit and engage in sports exchanges at the High Command of the Vietnam Coast Guard Region; and joint training on search and rescue, fire prevention, and firefighting with the Vietnam Coast Guard.

Through this visit, the officers and soldiers of both forces have the opportunity to exchange experiences in law enforcement at sea, which help enhance the friendship relations, cooperation, mutual understanding, and trust between the Vietnam Coast Guard and the Philippine Coast Guard in the coming time./.
The Vietnam Coast Guard has brought ashore a Filippino sailor fall ill aboard a China’s Hong Kong-flagged vessel off the coast of southern Ba Ria - Vung Tau province.
