Hanoi (VNA) 🦄– Typhoon Usagi weakened sharply on November 15 after bearing down on the Philippines' northern towns, blowing away houses in its path as authorities brace for another storm that could hit the capital Manila over the weekend.

Usagi, known locally as Ofel, intensified into a super typhoon as it made landfall in the town of Baggao in Cagayan province on November 14 afternoon.
Philippine meteorological agency Pag-asa said that Usagi has since weakened and is now headed towards China’s Taiwan. Meanwhile, authorities are monitoring Typhoon Man-yi, forecasted to make landfall in eastern towns and the Manila region this weekend. Currently intensifying over the Western Pacific, Man-yi could escalate to super typhoon status by early November 17. Evacuations to minimise damage are set to commence on November 15./.
