PM arrives in Switzerland, starting activities at WEF Davos 2019

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc arrived at Zurich International Airport, Switzerland at 7am on January 23 (local time) and immediately moved to Davos for scheduled activities within the framework of the annual conference of the World Economic Forum (WEF).

Davos (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc arrived at ZurichInternational Airport, Switzerland at 7am on January 23 (local time) andimmediately moved to Davos for scheduled activities within the framework of theannual conference of the World Economic Forum (WEF).

During the day, PMPhuc will join other leaders at the opening session themed “Meeting of leaderson ocean action agenda”, and meet with several country leaders on the sidelinesof the WEF Davos 2019.

The PM and WEF Founderand Executive Chairman Prof. Klaus Schwab are to chair a dialogue with leadersof global groups on the Vietnamese economy with the theme of enhancing dynamismand innovation in the fourth Industrial Revolution.

Also on January 23,the Vietnamese Government leader will meet leaders of several multinationalgroups.

The WEF Davos 2019 isthe first multilateral diplomatic event that Vietnam’s top leaders haveattended in 2019. Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s presence at the event fromJanuary 22-25 will be a chance to propagate the country’s socio-economicdevelopment and international integration achievements in 2018.

His attendance willalso deliver Vietnam’s major policies, orientation and measures onsocio-economic development in 2019, thus encouraging leading partners andgroups to continue intensifying cooperation with Vietnam, and consolidating afavourable international environment for the implementation of the country’s socio-economicdevelopment targets this year.

Within the frameworkof the event, Vietnam and WEF plan to sign a cooperation agreement on buildingan Industry 4.0 Centre in Vietnam and a letter of intent on collaboration inplastic waste treatment.

The WEF wasestablished in 1971 as a not-for-profit foundation and is headquartered inGeneva, Switzerland. It now engages the foremost political, business and otherleaders of society to shape global, regional and industry agendas. Vietnamjoined the forum in 1989.-VNA
