PM hopes RoK’s police to increase training cooperation with Vietnam

Hanoi (VNA) –
Prime Minister NguyenXuan Phuc has called on the Korean National Police Agency (KNPA) to enhancetraining cooperation with Vietnam and help the Southeast Asian country improveprofessional capacity for its police force.

He made the appeal at a reception for Chief ofthe KNPA Lee Chul-sung in Hanoi on October 26, saying the RoK has a lot ofachievements in criminal science and police profession.

The PM welcomed the guest to visit Vietnam on theoccasion of the 25th anniversary of Vietnam-RoK diplomatic ties.

He affirmed the strong support of the Vietnamesegovernment for the enhancement of bilateral cooperative relations in crimeprevention to ensure national security and social order and safety in therespective countries.

The PM underlined the importance of increasingcooperation and experience sharing between police agencies, especially whenVietnam is making all-out efforts to ensure absolute safety for the APECEconomic Leaders’ Week 2017 in November.

The two sides need to actively exchangeinformation in the field and expand cooperation in crime prevention, especiallynon-traditional and cross-border crime, he said.

He expressed his belief that the visit toVietnam by the KNPA Chief will open a new chapter in collaboration betweenVietnamese and Korean police forces.

For his part, Lee Chul-sung said he was glad towork with the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam, during which the twosides agreed on a number of important contents, especially the combat against hi-techcrime and ensuring cyber security.

They also agreed to boost cooperation intraining in the coming time, he said, adding that the KNPA will continuecoordinating with the Vietnamese ministry to exchange information andexperience in preventing all kinds of crime, especially non-traditional ones,hi-tech crime, and terrorism.-VNA
