PM lauds Binh Phuoc’s efforts to foster economic growth
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on August 20 hailed Binh Phuoc province’s efforts to seek new markets as a crucial step towards expanding production and fostering growth, affirming this way would help attract potential investors.

Speaking at a working sessionwith provincial leaders within the framework of his visit to the southern province,PM Phuc noted that Binh Phuoc’s Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) remainslow, ranking 62nd out of the country’s 63 provinces and cities in 2017.
The government leader asked theprovince to exert more efforts to improve its index ranking and businessenvironment.
Its high poverty rate is also aproblem that needs to be addressed, he added, stressing the need to payattention to building trademarks for local agricultural products.
The PM urged the province tofocus on preventing all kinds of crimes to ensure a peaceful life for localpeople and to serve economic development. He emphasised that by building a peacefulborderline, favourable conditions would be created for trade activities andeconomic cooperation.
PM Phuc expressed his hope thatBinh Phuoc will concentrate further on developing the private economic sector,attracting more investment in agriculture, and protecting forests.
He also requested ministries towork with the province and provide support during its socio-economicdevelopment process.
With a low starting point as apoor province after its re-establishment in 1997, Binh Phuoc has made constantefforts to develop and become one of the eight key localities in the southerneconomic zone.
The province’s gross regionaldomestic product (GRDP) reached 6.64 percent in the first half of 2018, whileState budget collection was valued at 4.9 trillion VND (215.8 million USD) inthe first seven months of the year.-VNA
