Hanoi (VNA) – 🌳Prime MinisterNguyen Xuan Phuc has urged newly-accredited US Ambassador to Vietnam DanielKritenbrink to promote the exchange of high-level delegations and prompt the USGovernment to actively handle issues proposed by Vietnam to develop bilateralcooperative relations.
During a reception for the US ambassador inHanoi on December 26, PM Phuc spoke highly of Kritenbrink’s contributions toenhancing Vietnam-US relations when he worked as Senior Director for AsianAffairs at the US National Security Council. While recalling his official visit to the US inMay 2017, the PM said the two sides discussed and agreed on a number ofmeasures to strengthen the Vietnam-US comprehensive partnership. Vietnam has been actively implementingalready-reach measures, including those to balance bilateral trade, he said,adding that the growth of two-way trade will benefit the people of both nations. PM Phuc hoped the US Ambassador will have asuccessful working tenure in Vietnam, affirming that the Government of Vietnamwill coordinate with the US to drive the bilateral rapports forward. Kritenbrink said the US considers Vietnam asone of its important partners not only in the region but also in the world. The ambassador congratulated Vietnam on thesuccessful organisation of the APEC 2017 Economic Leaders Week and conveyed USPresident Donald Trump’s thanks for Vietnam’s warm welcome when he visited theSoutheast Asian country in November. Kritenbrink said his major task is to strengthenand expand cooperative relations between the two countries. Sharing the PM’s views, Kritenbrinksaid economic and trade cooperation is a pillar in Vietnam-US cooperative ties,which is developing rapidly. The Vietnamese Embassy in the US on November 29 celebrated a fruitful year of the Vietnam-US comprehensive partnership and the success of the APEC Year 2017.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh hosted a reception for visiting President and CEO of the Samaritan’s Purse International Relief (SPIR) of the US, Pastor Franklin Graham.
Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan has called on the US to facilitate cooperation between the city and US partners to establish a start-up ecosystem, promote innovation, and develop smart city project and innovation centre in District 2, District 9 and Thu Duc district.
Ho Chi Minh City wishes to intensify relations with its US partners in many spheres, including trade, investment, personnel training, smart city management and high-tech, said Secretary of the municipal Party’s Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan.
The programme to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses has achieved notable results, with nearly 263,000 housing units addressed to date, including 225,000 houses inaugurated and 38,000 under construction. Thirty-eight provinces and cities across the nation have already fulfilled their targets.
Stronger efforts and determination are required to achieve and surpass the set targets, especially in the eradication of makeshift and dilapidated houses nationwide, the acceleration of public investment disbursement, and the implementation of nationally important transport projects, PM Pham Minh Chinh noted.

Long spoke highly of the dynamic, positive, and comprehensive development of Vietnam – Russia relations in recent years.
