PM welcomes newly-appointed Chinese, Danish ambassadors

Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc onDecember 13 hosted separate receptions for newly-accredited ambassadors ofChina and Denmark.

At a meeting with Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Xiong Bo, PM Phuc highlighted the positive outcomes ofcooperation between Vietnam and China over the past time.

Vietnam attaches great importance to developingthe friendly neighbourliness and comprehensive cooperation with China, he said,urging the ambassador to make practical contributions to the relationship inthe coming time.

For his part, Xiong pledged to do his utmost topromote the China-Vietnam comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership for theinterests and development of each country, thereby contributing to peace,stability and prosperity in the region.

Meeting Danish Ambassador to Vietnam Kim Højlund Christensen,PM Phuc said Vietnam and Denmark should coordinate closely with each other torealise agreements reached during his visit to the European country lastOctober.

He said the current trade turnover of 700 millionUSD between the two countries has yet to match their potential and voiced hishope that Vietnam and Denmark will step up bilateral trade and investment ties.

The leader asked the ambassador to organise moretrips for Danish businesses to Vietnam in order to seek new cooperationopportunities and forms with host agencies, and called for Denmark’s support toVietnam’s prioritised projects in climate change response, environmentalprotection, education and health care.

PM Phuc said he believed that the ambassador,with his diplomatic experiences,  willmake practical contributions to the bilateral relations in the time ahead.

In reply, Christensen expressed his delight at the fruitfulrelationship between Vietnam and Denmark and promised to work hard to pushahead with the implementation of agreements reached during the PM’s visit toDenmark in October this year.

Many Danish enterprises have showntheir interests in investing in Vietnam, he said, lauding the VietnameseGovernment’s efforts in improving the investment climate.
The diplomat promised to makeevery effort to raise bilateral trade in the time to come.-VNA
