Politburo reviews 10-year implementation of resolution on social policies
Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on March 30 chaired a meeting of the Party Central Committee’s Politburo and Secretariat on a project summarising the 10-year implementation of Resolution No. 15-NQ/TW dated June 10, 2012, of the 11th Party Central Committee on social policies for the 2012-2020 period.
Hanoi (VNA) – Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on March 30chaired a meeting of the Party Central Committee’s Politburo and Secretariat ona project summarising the 10-year implementation of Resolution No. 15-NQ/TWdated June 10, 2012, of the 11th Party Central Committee on social policies for the 2012-2020 period.
The Politburo said that over the past 35 yearsimplementing the Doi moi (Renewal) policy and the 10 years implementing the resolution,innovating and developing social policies is a consistent advocate of the Partyand State with the spirit of economic growth coupled with social progress and justice.
The effective implementation of social policies and ensuringsocial welfare have contributed to strengthening people's confidence in the Party,State and regime, bringing about great achievements in realising socialprogress and justice, and improving people's material and spiritual life,affirming the superiority of socialism under the leadership of the Party.
However, the Politburo pointed to several shortcomings andweaknesses, including the lack of inclusiveness and linkage of social policies,the big gap in living conditions between regions and groups, unsustainable povertyreduction, not high human resources quality, and low social insurance.

The Politburo affirmed that maintaining the innovation andpromotion of the effectiveness of social policies is a strategic and regulartask of the Party, the State, the entire political system, and the society,contributing to ensuring the socialism orientation, boosting economic growth inparallel with social progress and justice, ensuring social welfare, andcreating conditions for people to participate in and better enjoy the fruits ofdevelopment.
It is necessary to build and perfect social policies in a comprehensive,modern, inclusive and sustainable manner, with the people placed at the centre, andbeing the subject, target, motivation and resources for development.
The implementation of these policies must be put under thedirect and comprehensive leadership of the Party, the strict and effectivemanagement of the State, and the regular supervision of the Vietnam FatherlandFront and socio-political organiations; and see the active engagement ofpeople and businesses, the Politburo stressed./.
Vietnam is building a system of social policies towards all people, inclusive and comprehensive; creating a chance for development for everyone to advance together.
Officially launched and put into operation on October 4, 2002, the Viet Nam Bank for Social Policies - as the "extension arm" of the Government - has worked hard to bring preferential capital to the poor and other policy beneficiaries – in a 20-year journey full of hardship, sweat and even tears of thousands of officials and employees in the system.
While social policies have resulted in significant achievements in the past few years, a more comprehensive approach is required to ensure social security and welfare for people.
On December 8, the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs in coordination with United Nations agencies in Vietnam held a seminar on Vietnam's social policy towards 2030, with a vision to 2045.
The trip will be made at the invitations of Chinese Premier Li Qiang and WEF President and CEO Børge Brende, according to an announcement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Long spoke highly of the dynamic, positive, and comprehensive development of Vietnam – Russia relations in recent years. The Party chief underscored the need for the press to innovate relentlessly, evolve to keep pace with the country's development, transform into a truly professional, humanistic, and modern sector that serves the cause of the Party, the State, and the people on the path to national construction and development.
The UN Secretary-General praised Vietnam’s remarkable achievements in socio-economic development and international integration in recent years, noting that the country has emerged as a model in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), promoting international peace and security, and engaging in key UN processes.
Nghia affirmed that this is a milestone of special significance, affirming and honouring the the Vietnamese revolutionary press’s glorious tradition of 100 years of serving the revolutionary cause of the Party, serving the Fatherland, and serving the people.
The Party and State of Vietnam always attach great importance to and give top priority to the development of Vietnam–China relations. NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man stressed the need to accelerate the application of artificial intelligence and smart teaching equipment, innovate teaching and assessment methods, and further improve the quality of formal education.
