A poster contest on the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Year 2017 which will be hosted by Vietnam next year, was officially launched on December 30.
Hanoi (VNA) – A poster contest on the Asia-Pacific EconomicCooperation (APEC) Year 2017 which will be hosted by Vietnam next year, was officially launched on December30.
Initiated by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the contest is open toall professional and amateur artists nationwide and those living abroad.
The contest is expected to contributing to concretising Vietnam’s intensive international integrationpolicy, improving the quality and efficiency of multilateral diplomaticaffairs, and affirming that Vietnam is a friend, reliable partner, and a responsible member of the regional and international community.
The entries are requested to highlight the theme of the APEC Year 2017 “Creating new driving force for a common future”, and Vietnam’s achievementsand contributions to the regional sustainable economic growth and connection, thus promotingpeace, stability, development and prosperity in the Asian Pacific region.
The contest also aims to promote the attractive investment climate and incentivesin attracting foreign investment of Vietnam, as well as the country’s culture, landscape and people.
The organising board has the right to use winning works for exhibitions during the APEC Year and at otherevents nationwide.
The deadline of submission is February28, 2017.
Previously, a contest to design the logo for the APECYear 2017 was also launched in March this year.

Hosting the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Year in 2017 is the centre of Vietnam’s external activities, demonstrating the country’s desire to contribute to APEC and regional development.
APEC Year 2017 is among focuses of Vietnam’s external activities in the context of intensive and extensive international integration, stated Deputy Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son on December 9 while chairing the first press conference of Vietnam on the event.
Member ministries, sectors and localities of the National Committee for APEC 2017 were urged to enhance coordination and information sharing to ensure the success of the APEC Year in Vietnam in 2017.
The programmes have brought about positive changes to rural infrastructure, comprehensively improved the material and spiritual lives of farmers, and contributed to Vietnam's economic restructuring, said PM Pham Minh Chinh.
The festival highlighted the contributions and robust development of Vietnam's revolutionary press over the past century while promoting press products and showcasing the creativity of Vietnamese journalists.
The programme on sustainable poverty reduction has achieved its annual targets for reducing the poverty rate as assigned by the National Assembly and the Government. It has fulfilled five specific objectives and five five-year goals, and met nine out of 12 indicators related to addressing basic social service shortages.
