Hanoi (VNA)ꦐ – President Truong Tan Sang urged the northern province of Bac Ninh to balance industrial development and agricultural production during a visit on March 6.

The province needs to devise policies to enhance the competitiveness of local agricultural products while industrialising and building new-style rural areas, President Sang said. He attached significance to training human resources to meet the strict requirements of regional and international integration such as in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) deal and others.
The President hailed the province’s recent developments, particularly in shifting to high industry-service proportions, which account for 95 percent of the local economic structure, and improvement of local living conditions. According to Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Tu Quynh, in 2015, the province’s GRDP exceeded 121 trillion VND (5.44 billion USD), up 8.7 percent, ranking sixth in the nation. The province has drawn in 819 foreign investment projects with total investment of 11.7 billion USD.
Thirty-five communes in the province met all the new-style rural area criteria last year. The communes have fulfilled an average of 15.71 of 19 criteria under the modern rural area programme, making Bac Ninh one of the 10 localities sastisfying the most national criteria. During the visit, President Sang offered incense to the eight kings in the Ly dynasty at the Den Do (Do Temple) in Dinh Bang ward, and late Party Chief Nguyen Van Cu at his memorial site in Phu Khe commune, Tu Son. He also paid field visits to high-tech agricultural production fields at DABACO Group and Crucialtec Vina Company in Yen Phong Industrial Park.-VNA
