Hanoi (VNA) – President Tran DaiQuang has congratulated education workers and students nationwide on theoccasion of the new academic year 2017-2018.
In his congratulatory message written onSeptember 1, the President hailed the educational sector for obtainingsignificant achievements in the previous school year.
Educational reform is on the right track whilethe quality of education at all levels has been enhanced, he said.
He extolled students with high accomplishmentsat international Olympiads in maths, physics, chemistry, biology andinformatics.
The President asked the educational sector topush ahead with reforms and focus on building a safe, healthy and friendly environment.
He called for the development in education inethnic minority populated regions, taking better care of students from policybeneficiary families and ensuring equal opportunities for all.-VNA
The New York-based Institute for Vietnamese Culture and Education (IVCE) has called for donations to support poor students in rural villages of Quang Ngai and Lam Dong provinces for the new school-year.
The National Fund for Vietnamese Children presented 50 bicycles, each worth over 1.7 million VND (75 USD), and 50 school bags to needy children in the central province of Quang Ngai.
Rencontres du Vietnam on August 31 presented 273 scholarships worth 2.4 billion VND to poor students with outstanding academic performance in central provinces of Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Ha Tinh.
