Bangkok (VNA) –♓ President Ho Chi Minh’s revolutionary career has become a symbol, igniting the aspirations and faith in the struggle for independence, freedom, peace, democracy, and social progress of the people across the globe, according to Thai scholar Songrit Pongern.

In a recent interview with the Vietnam News Agency on the threshold of the 135th birth anniversary of the Vietnamese revolutionary leader (May 19, 1890-2025), Songrit recalled the stories about President Ho Chi Minh from his school days when Vietnam’s resistance war was still in its fiercest stage. This urged him to study and research more deeply about the great Vietnamese leader's life and career when he entered Thammasat University. “We would rather sacrifice everything than lose our country, than live as slaves. Nothing is more precious than independence and freedom.” He said these words made a profound impression on him as they express President Ho Chi Minh’s determination in national liberation and independence. According to the Thai scholar, President Ho Chi Minh's revolutionary activities and contributions to Vietnam hold immense value and are crucial to Vietnam's existence today. His ideological legacy emphasised that socialism's development must make the people prosperous, the country strong, and ensure citizens live in peace and happiness with improved material and spiritual lives, enjoying freedom and the benefits of scientific and technological advancement. Songrit said that the President's thoughts continue to serve as the foundation for the Communist Party of Vietnam in developing policies, issuing guidelines, and implementing plans to develop the country towards the goals of prosperity, strength, democracy, equity, and civilisation. He affirmed President Ho Chi Minh's meaningful contributions to revolutionary movements worldwide. He observed that the late leader’s actions made the world recognise the virtues and qualities of a genuine revolutionary. He wholeheartedly dedicated his service to the country and people, placing national interests above anything. He demonstrated a simple lifestyle, humility, eagerness to learn, willingness to listen to opinions, and closeness to the people. Songrit believed these revolutionary qualities are precious assets and serve as a guiding torch for Vietnam's development. Additionally, the scholar suggested that students and younger generations should learn about Uncle Ho's life and career, as he symbolises patriotism and stands as a true national hero./.
