Hanoi (VNA)𒈔 – President Truong Tan Sang joined the annual festival “Colours of spring from every corner of the country” in the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism, in the outlying district of Son Tay on February 18.

Attending the event were village patriarchs, religious dignitaries, intellectuals and artisans from 54 Vietnamese ethnic groups and overseas Vietnamese who returned home on the occasion of the Lunar New Year festival.
The President shared in the joy of the Tay ethnic community during the Long Tong festival – the biggest agricultural festival of the northern mountainous region – to pray for a bountiful harvest. In his speech, he said 2016 marks the first year of realising the resolution adopted by the 12 th National Party Congress which set out policies to turn Vietnam into a modern-oriented industrialised country.
He hoped that ethnic groups nationwide will make their efforts right from the beginning of this year to promptly bring the resolution to life. The leader took the occasion to convey his best New Year greetings to compatriots of 54 ethnic communities nationwide and wished that the great national unity would be ever strengthened.-VNA
