President Tran Dai Quang congratulates upcoming AIPA-39
President Tran Dai Quang has sent a letter of congratulations to Speaker of Parliament of Singapore Tan Chuan-Jin, President of the 39th ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) General Assembly, on the event, scheduled for September 3-7 in Singapore.
Hanoi (VNA) – President Tran DaiQuang has sent a letter of congratulations to Speaker of Parliament ofSingapore Tan Chuan-Jin, President of the 39th ASEAN Inter-ParliamentaryAssembly (AIPA) General Assembly, on the event, scheduled for September 3-7 inSingapore.
A delegation of the National Assembly of Vietnamled by Vice Chairman Do Ba Ty will participate in the event.
In his congratulatory letter, President Quanghighlighted the crucial role and active contributions of AIPA over the past 40years to the building of a united and unified ASEAN Community for peace,cooperation and prosperous development, thus benefiting all people.
The President praised the theme of the AIPA-39“Towards a Resilient and Innovative Community”, which he said, is in line withthe development goals of the ASEAN Community given rapid changes in the regionand beyond.
The building of a self-reliant and innovativeASEAN Community should be based on the three pillars of politics-security,economy, and socio-culture, he said.
He suggested continuously promoting the internalstrength of each member state and maintaining the bloc’s solidarity andunification while reinforcing the central role of ASEAN in the evolvingregional architecture, increasing intra-bloc economic links and exchanges,enhancing competitiveness, making use of external resources and the FourthIndustrial Revolution (Industry 4.0) for development, and effectivelyresponding to traditional and non-traditional challenges for sustainabledevelopment.
In the process of realising the ASEAN CommunityVision 2025, the connectivity and complementarities between AIPA and ASEAN areof important significance, he said.
AIPA cooperation is a driving force for jointefforts to build a rule-based regional order and create a favourable legalframework that effectively supports state diplomacy among ASEAN member nationsand between them and the bloc’s partners.
Meanwhile, ASEAN collaboration is thecornerstone to promote inter-parliamentary cooperation, President Quang said.
In this spirit, the National Assembly of Vietnamhas been actively and responsibly taking part in AIPA activities, contributingto building the ASEAN Community with stable and sustainable development, heaffirmed.
He expressed his belief that under the chair ofthe President of AIPA-39 and the close cooperation of the stakeholders and thethorough preparation of the Singaporean Parliament, the AIPA-39 will be asuccess.-VNA
