President Tran Dai Quang meets with Lao PM Thongloun Sisoulith
Vietnam and Laos need to continue deepening their political ties while boosting their cooperation in diplomacy, security, and defence fields, President Tran Dai Quang said.

Hanoi(VNA) – Vietnam and Laos need to continue deepening their political ties whileboosting their cooperation in diplomacy, security, and defence fields, PresidentTran Dai Quang said at his reception for Prime Minister of Laos ThonglounSisoulith in Hanoi on March 30.
The Lao leader iscurrently in Hanoi for the sixth Greater Mekong Subregion Summit (GMS-6) andthe 10th Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Development Triangle Summit (CLV-10)from March 29-31.
The Presidentexpressed his belief that the participation of PM Thongloun Sisoulith willcontribute greatly to the success of these summits, creating an impetus for thecooperation in the sub-region and between Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam.
He congratulated Laos on their immense, important attainments across sectorsand expressed his belief that under the leadership of their Party and State,Lao people will succeed in building their country more wealthy.
“Vietnam’sconsistent policy is respecting and giving the top priority to preserving anddeveloping the special solidarity with Laos. Vietnam will wholeheartedly supportthe comprehensive reform, national defence, and nation-building efforts ofLaos,” he stated.
Built on the successes of the Vietnam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year 2017,2018 will be a favourable year for the two countries to reinforce and expandtheir traditional friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation,and lift their cooperation to the next level, the Vietnamese President said.
He suggested pushingcommunications campaigns to educate young people on the special solidaritybetween the two countries, as well as connectivity between the two economies,especially in transport and energy.
PM ThonglounSisoulith praised Vietnam’s organisation of GMS-6 and CLV-10 and itsinitiatives to the events and expressed his belief that the summits will besuccessful.
He told his hostthat the Party, State and people of Laos are working hard to accomplish thegoals set by the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party at its 10th Congress.
He asked the two countries to actively deploy high-ranking agreements based onthe outcomes of the annual meeting between the two Political Bureaus and the 40th meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Intergovernmental Committee, to accelerate economicconnectivity, especially in transport, energy and key cooperative projects.
He expects that the two countries will continue coordinating closely andsupporting each other at multilateral forums.-VNA
