Hanoi (VNA) – President Tran DaiQuang received Chief Justice Khamphanh Sithidampha and a delegation of thePeople’s Supreme Court of Laos in Hanoi on January 4.
The host leader reiterated that the Party, Stateand people of Vietnam always treasure the special relationship with their Laocounterparts.
He affirmed the support for stronger cooperationbetween the two supreme courts, stressing that the court system plays an importantrole in building a rule-governed State and protecting justice and human rightsin each country.
The President expressed his delight at the twosupreme courts’ frequent delegation exchanges, experience sharing, and enhancedcooperation in crime fight and personnel training. He also highly valuedreform and development achievements that the Lao court system has attainedrecently.
He asked the supreme courts of Vietnam and Laosto continue developing their cooperation so as to bring about concrete andpractical benefits for both court systems, thus contributing to each country’sdevelopment as well as the two countries’ traditional cooperation and specialfriendship.
President Quang, who also chairs the CentralSteering Committee for Judicial Reform, asked the two countries’ court sectorsto step up judicial reforms to meet demand in the new context. He added mutualassistance and experience sharing are very important to this work.
At the meeting, the leader also congratulatedthe People’s Supreme Court of Laos on being presented with the IndependenceOrder (first class), a noble order of the State of Vietnam. Some officials ofthe Lao court were also granted with other awards.
Briefing his host about their working visit toVietnam, Chief Justice Khamphanh Sithidampha said the two court systems haveorganised regular visits to share experience as well as training courses.
At the talks with officials of the SupremePeople’s Court of Vietnam earlier the same day, the two sides reviewedcooperation outcomes and outlined cooperation plans for 2018 and the followingyears.
He added in the Vietnam-Laos Solidarity andFriendship Year 2017, the court sectors held various activities to educateyounger generations on the two countries’ special relations.
He also thanked the Vietnamese Party and Statefor presenting noble awards for the People’s Supreme Court of Laos.-VNA
