– President Tran DaiQuang hosted receptions for the newly-accredited ambassadors from Nigeria,Greece and the US in Hanoi on November 6.

At a meeting with Nigeria’s Ambassador FrancisEfeduma, the President affirmed Vietnam’s consistent policy of developingtraditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Nigeria, one of theleading partners in Africa.

He hoped the two countries will maintainhigh-level delegation visits and increase people-to-people and culturalexchanges while taking more effective measures to boost cooperation ineconomics, trade and investment on a par with their sound political ties.

The President’s special envoy will visit Nigeriain 2018 to propose orientations to boost cooperation in the private economy, herevealed.

Ambassador Efeduma said the two nations have alot of cooperation potential, adding that the country’s Minister of Agricultureis due to visit Vietnam next week to seek stronger partnership in this field.

He added that Nigeria always supports andpartners with Vietnam at international forums.

While meeting with Greek Ambassador IoannisRaptakis, President Quang asked the two countries to increase all-leveldelegation exchanges to promote cooperation in various fields as well asstrengthen coordination at multilateral forums such as the United Nations,ASEAN-EU, and Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM).

The President said economic, trade andinvestment cooperation should become a key pillar in the bilateral relations.He called on the two sides to step up win-win cooperation in the fields oftheir strengths such as the marine economy, navigation, shipbuilding,agriculture, tourism, culture and education.

He thanked Greece for supporting Vietnam toboost relations with the European Union (EU), including the ratification of thePartnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA). He asked Greece to back the earlysigning and implementation of the Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA).

Ambassador Raptakis said Greece wants to promoterelations between Vietnam and the EU and hopes to be the representative voiceof Vietnam in Europe.

Welcoming US Ambassador Daniel Kritenbrink,President Quang said Vietnamese agencies are gearing up for US President DonaldTrump’s State visit to Vietnam along with his participation in the APECEconomic Leaders’ Week 2017, which is taking place in the central city of DaNang, from November 4-11.

The President urged the two sides to increase effectivecooperation mechanisms and expand exchanges among officials, departments andlocalities as well as promote policy, defence-security dialogues, andcooperation in education and culture.

He spoke highly of the US’s efforts indetoxifying toxic chemicals at Da Nang airport and proposed the country providemore assistance in the field.

He said Vietnam highly values the US’sviewpoints in ensuring aviation and navigation freedom, security, and safety inthe region, he noted.

Ambassador Kritenbrink said he wants to promotethe Vietnam-US comprehensive partnership during his working tenure.

He expressed his belief in the successful Statevisit to Vietnam by President Donald Trump. Through the visit, the US peopleand investors will know Vietnam as an attractive destination, he added.-VNA
