Hanoi (VNA)🥂 – President Truong Tan Sang will discuss with his Mozambican counterpart measures to enhance the economic cooperation between the two countries during his State visit to the African nation from March 11-13.

The two leaders will focus on ways to boost ties in the fields of agriculture, healthcare, education, communications, and take the occasion to exchange views on regional and global issues of common concern. They will also attend and deliver speech at the Vietnam-Mozambique business forum.
President Sang’s visit to Mozambique is expected to elevate political relations to a new height while creating momentum for the two countries’ enterprises and investors to foster trade activities, thus benefiting both nations. The two countries have carried out a line-up of cooperation projects in agriculture and fisheries and signed numerous agreements in other fields, such as a framework agreement on economic, cultural, scientific and technological cooperation and a trade agreement in 2003, an agreement on investment encouragement and protection in 2007, among others. In 2014, the two governments reached another agreement on joint research into food crop development in Mozambique for 2013-2017.
Two-way trade increased from 7.7 million USD in 2003 to 97.5 million USD in 2014. Vietnam’s major exports to Mozambique are clinker, rice, electric wire, electric cable, among others. Furthermore, high-ranking delegation exchanges have been conducted between two nations for years. Last year, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai made a three-day visit to the African country on the occasion of the 40 th anniversary of Vietnam-Mozambique diplomatic ties (June 25, 1975-2015). Along with speeding up efficient cooperation in agriculture, aquaculture, communications and education, the visit opened up opportunities for the two sides to further collaboration in maritime transport, mining, hydroelectricity, hydrometeorology and climate change warning.-VNA
