Press release of 15th National Assembly’s first session

The 15th National Assembly convened its first session on July 20 following an opening ceremony broadcast live on channels of the Voice of Vietnam (VOV1), Vietnam Television (VTV), and NA Television.

Hanoi (VNA) – The 15th National Assemblyconvened its first session on July 20 following an opening ceremony broadcastlive on channels of the Voice of Vietnam (VOV1), Vietnam Television (VTV), andNA Television.

Following the opening remarks by Chairman of the 14th NAVuong Dinh Hue, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong delivered a speech atthe session.

Tran Thanh Man, Vice Chairman of the 14th NA and deputy headof the National Election Council, then presented a report reviewing theelections of deputies to the 15th legislature and all-level People’s Councilsfor the 2021-2026 term.

Another report on the verification of the eligibility ofdeputies to the 15th NA was also presented.

In the afternoon, the legislator elected Chairman of the 15th NA by secretballots. They then voted to pass a resolution on the election ofthe NA Chairman. Hue, who was elected for the post, sworn in anddelivered aspeech.

The legislature then elected Vice Chairpersons andmembers of the 15th NA Standing Committee by secret ballots.

On July 21, lawmakers are set to conduct procedures toelect the NA General Secretary, the Chairperson of the EthnicCouncil, Chairpersons of the NA Committees, and the Auditor General of the StateAudit Office.

The NA will hear a proposal on and discuss the legislature’s 2022 supervisionprogramme, and a proposal on and deliberate the law and ordinance buildingprogramme for 2022. Adjustments to the 2021 law and ordinance building programme will also be tabled./.
