The conference was organisedby the Press Authority under the Ministry of Information andCommunication (MIC) in association with the Information andCommunication Subcommittee under the IPU-132 Organising Board.
Addressing the event, MIC Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Hunghighlighted that this year’s IPU hosted by Vietnam will welcome around1,000 delegates including high-ranking parliament officials and membersof regional inter-parliamentary unions and international organisationsworldwide.
Over 300 journalists from local and international press and news agencies are expected to cover the meetings, he said.
He urged the local press to widely disseminate information on thehistory of the IPU, the Vietnam-IPU relationship and the country’sinitiatives for the IPU-132.
It is vital for thepress to be well-prepared for the forthcoming event and capable ofcovering the news in a timely fashion, he added.
At the conference, the journalists were introduced to the IPU and itspolitical significance to Vietnam as the host of this year’s event, aswell as preparatory works for the occasion.
The IPU-132 will take place in Hanoi from March 28-April 1.-VNA
Held under the theme “Pride and Aspiration”, this year's “Glory to Vietnam” programme aimed to inspire the Vietnamese people's ambition to reach new heights during the era of integration and development.
