Prime Minister arrives in Dubai, starting activities at COP28
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh arrived at Al Maktoum International Airport, Dubai city, late November 30, starting a trip to attend the World Climate Action Summit in the framework of the 28th UN climate change conference (COP28) and bilateral activities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from November 30 to December 3, at the invitation of the UAE Government.

Dubai, (VNA)🔴 - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, his spouseand the Vietnamese delegation arrived at Al Maktoum International Airport,Dubai city, late November 30, starting a trip to attend the World Climate ActionSummit in the framework of the 28thUnited Nations climate change conference (COP28) and bilateral activities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) fromNovember 30 to December 3, at the invitation of the UAE Government.
ThePM and his entourage were met at the airport by representatives from the COP28 organisers and the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Vietnamese Ambassador to the UAENguyen Manh Tuan, among others.

During his stay, PM Chinh is scheduled to attend and speak atimportant conferences, forums and discussions within the framework of COP28, and holdbilateral meetings with leaders of countries and international organisations. Hewill also engage in bilateral activities with the UAE. The Prime Minister's participation in COP28sends a strong message to the international community about a proactive, activeand responsible Vietnam in addressing one of the biggest and most concernedglobal challenges today, climate change, and at the same time, affirmsVietnam's role and position in regional and international cooperationframeworks, along with its consistent policy on building a green, circulareconomy and proactively responding to climate change. Regardingthe UAE, Vietnam and the UAE are seeing their cooperation developing well after30 years of diplomatic establishment (1993-2023). The two sides share the wish toenhance cooperation in all fields. Recently, the two sides have regularlyexchanged delegations at all levels and regularly supported each other atinternational forums and organisations. The UAE is the leading trade and investment partner ofVietnam in the Middle East with bilateral annual trade turnover averagingaround 5 billion USD in recent years. It is also one of the major foreigninvestors in Vietnam with 38 investment projects. At present there are about4,500 Vietnamese workers working in the Middle East country./.
The visit by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from December 1 to 3 to attend the 28th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP28) and have several bilateral activities provides an opportunity to strengthen the two sides’ political trust and cooperation in the future.
Vietnam is set to participate in important initiatives at the 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), held in the UAE from November 30 to December 12, said Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Le Cong Thanh.
United Nations (UN) Secretary-General António Guterres appreciated Vietnam’s efforts to implement international commitments related to climate while hosting Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the UN, at the UN headquarters on November 29.
Public opinion in the region and the world highly values Vietnam's commitments to climate change actions, especially the fact that Vietnam is among the few developing countries to announce the commitment to cutting net emissions to zero by 2050 and eliminating coal-fired power in the 2030-2040 period, Vietnamese Ambassador to the UAE Nguyen Manh Tuan.

During the negotiations, the US highly evaluated Vietnam’s goodwill and efforts, affirmed its appreciation for the bilateral relationship, acknowledged Vietnam’s proposals and concerns, and considered these an important basis for continuing discussions and moving towards a final agreement.
The Chairman stressed the need for stricter fiscal discipline, faster digital transformation, and more efficient management of State budget revenues and expenditures.
