Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc assured visiting JapaneseMinister of Economy, Trade and Industry Hirosighe Seko that the Vietnamesegovernment offers all possible support to Japanese investors in Vietnam.
During areception in Hanoi on September 14 for the minister, the PM lauded Japan as thefourth largest trade partner and the largest supplier of official developmentassistance (ODA) to Vietnam.
He hailedthe Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (MITE) and the VietnameseMinistry of Industry and Trade for promptly realising important terms in thejoint statement and effectively upholding the efficiency of the Vietnam-JapanJoint Committee on Industrial, Trade and Energy Cooperation mechanism.
The MITE wasalso praised for assisting Vietnam in food processing and improving thecompetitiveness of agro-fishery export.
The hostasked Japan to facilitate the licensing of Vietnamese fruits export to thecountry, firstly litchi and longans as mentioned in the joint statement, aswell as help Vietnam carry out an action plan on priority industries in itsindustrialisation strategy within the Vietnam-Japan cooperation frameworktowards 2020 with a vision to 2030.
Bothcountries should bolster energy collaboration, including building high-capacitycoal-fired thermal power plants and smart grids in Vietnam, he suggested.
The Minister,for his part, said Japan is willing to share experience with Vietnam in Stateenterprise reform, adding that the country also supports the proposal on looseningrequirements for Vietnamese fruits import and the two nations are processing relevantprocedures.
He alsopledged to offer a support package to Vietnam in the process of executing theindustrialisation strategy.
The twonations will establish a working group to step up energy cooperation such ascoal-fired thermal or renewable energy.
