Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc meets with his Canadian PM at G20

On the sidelines of the G20 Summit, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has met with the Prime Minister of Vietnam, Nguyễn Xuân Phúc.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau highlighted the importance of working together to grow economies that benefit everyone. He underscored the need to create new opportunities for the middle class in order to help people regain confidence in the future. As part of G20 efforts on global health, the Prime Minister announced $150 million in funding for the Global Financing Facility, to advance the health and nutrition of women, children in developing countries.
At the Summit, the Prime Minister also met with the Prime Minister of Vietnam, Nguyễn Xuân Phúc. Prime Minister Trudeau agreed with his Vietnamese counterpart’s suggestion to expand all-around links, particularly effectively tapping the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), expanding ties in finance, high-tech, agriculture and renewable energy. He also promised to intensify education collaboration, making it easier for Vietnamese students to study in Canada. During the G20 Leaders’ Summit in Osaka, Japan, Prime Minister Trudeau stressed the need for G20 countries to work together to defend the rules-based international order, promote open trade and investment, and protect our shared environment for future generations.
As a guest of the G20 Summit in Osaka, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc joined all discussions at the event and gave opinion on the draft joint statement of the summit. He also supported the Japanese PM’s initiative of Data Free Flow with Trust (DFFT). His contributions reflect Vietnam's responsibility in strengthening global cooperation to address urgent issues and contribute to the success of Vietnamese delegation at the Summit./.
