Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has offered incense to commemorate fallen soldiers at Truong Son National Martyrs’ Cemetery and Road 9 National Martyrs’ Cemetery in the central province of Quang Tri.

Quang Tri (VNA) – Prime MinisterNguyen Xuan Phuc has offered incense to commemorate fallen soldiers at TruongSon National Martyrs’ Cemetery and Road 9 National Martyrs’ Cemetery in thecentral province of Quang Tri.
Truong Son National Cemetery is the restingplace of soldiers who were killed during mission on the Ho Chi Minh Trailduring the anti-American war. There are more than 10,000 tombs at the cemetery.
Meanwhile, Road 9 was a strategic routeconnecting Vietnam-Laos border with Dong Ha in Quang Tri during the resistancewar against the US. The enemy built a lot of military bases along the road tocut off the flow of supplies from the north of Vietnam for the southernbattlefield.
Earlier, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc paidtribute to fallen soldiers at the Quang Tri Ancient Citadel relic site on theoccasion of the Day designated to commemorate war martyrs who died during thebattle at the ancient citadel (September 16).
In the resistance war of the Vietnamese peopleagainst the invading American imperialism, Quang Tri was the site of several ofthe fiercest battles, typically the 81-day-and-night battle to defend the ancientCitadel of Quang Tri from June 28, 1972 to September 16, 1972.
The battle significantly contributed to theliberation of the south and the national reunification./.
A total of 1,414 explosives left from the war have been safely detonated in the central province of Quang Tri, said the Mines Advisory Group (MAG) on August 14.
High-ranking officials from the central province of Quang Tri and the Lao provinces of Savannakhet and Salavan agreed to sign a cooperation agreement for the 2020 – 2022 period during their talks in Quang Tri on August 16.
