
Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen XuanPhuc visited workers at a sound device factory of the Foster Electric Bac NinhCo. Ltd in Tu Son town, the northern province of Bac Ninh, on May 31.
Deputy General Director of the Foster ElectricNguyen Quang Hoang said the group, established in Japan in 1949, is runningfour factories in Vietnam, and the plant in Bac Ninh is employing 3,600workers.
This year, the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact hasled to a drop in the number of orders, causing difficulties for the firm’sproduction and business activities. Facing this, the company has been takingmeasures to recover production and resigned itself to profit cut to ensureemployees’ livelihoods.
At the dialogue with the Government leader,workers appreciated the Party and State’s efforts against COVID-19, as well asthe aid package for people affected by the pandemic, including labourers. Theysaid they will continue complying with preventive measures for the disease andshare difficulties facing their business and the country.
They also expressed their hope that theGovernment will keep a good control of the pandemic, assist businesses andexport activities to guarantee labourers’ jobs and income, and support thebuilding of housing, day-care centres and supermarkets to meet their dailyneeds.
In response, PM Phuc said housing for workers isan issue that needs more attention, asking the Vietnam General Confederation ofLabour and Bac Ninh authorities to reserve more resources and create favourablemechanisms for the housing construction.
He also asked enterprises and localitiesnationwide to pay more heed to occupational safety and health, includingCOVID-19 prevention and control.
He affirmed the Party and State always createthe best possible environment for all domestic and foreign investors to operatesuccessfully in Vietnam. Therefore, both enterprises and state agencies areresponsible for developing a healthy business climate.
On the occasion of the Workers’ Month in May,the PM also presented gifts to 100 labourers with outstanding performance andthose with disadvantages of the company.
Following that, he visited and presented giftsto families living in workers’ rented housing area in Roi Soc hamlet of PhuChan commune, Tu Son town.
At a working session with key local officialslater on May 31, PM Phuc described province’s achievements, including leadingpositions nationwide in many aspects, as miracles for a small locality like BacNinh.
He also highly valued the dynamism, creativity,persistence and resolve of the local Party organisation, administration, peopleand business community.
Highlighting the improvement of people’s incomeas the ultimate goal of economic development, the PM noted that as Bac Ninh isan industrial province with a small area, a big population and a large numberof migrant workers from other localities and countries, it also needs to payattention to ensuring social security, order and stability.
Besides, the province has to diversify economicsectors, he said, adding that the development process must always centre onpeople so that no one is left behind.
It needs to work towards inclusive andharmonious growth evenly based on the three pillars of economy, society andenvironment, according to the Cabinet leader.
At the meeting, PM Phuc said as Samsung is amajor foreign investor with considerable contributions to local socio-economicdevelopment, Bac Ninh should put this firm at the centre of its electronicsindustry and connect this sector’s development with neighbouring provinces aswell as the Hanoi Capital Region./.
