Programme helps ensure clean drinking water for schools

Quang Nam (VNA) – As many as 152 water filters have been presented to 49schools in Nui Thanh district, the central province of Quang Nam, under aprogramme that provides clean drinking water for schools.

The machines, worth 4.5 billion VND (193,500USD) funded by car maker Thaco Truong Hai, were handed over to thekindergartens and primary and secondary schools at an event held at the Le QuyDon Primary School in Tam Hiep commune on February 11.

The activity was part of the clean drinkingwater for schools programme co-founded by former President Truong Tan Sang andChairman of the GIBC company Pham Phu Ngoc Trai.

This programme has been carried out since May2018 with a view to providing clean drinking water for students indisadvantaged areas, thus helping to improve their health. It also aims topromote businesses and social organisations’ coordination with localauthorities to boost sustainable development.

So far, the programme has benefited 293 schoolswith over 90,000 students and teachers nationwide, offering aid worth 15billion VND (over 644,600 USD) in total.-VNA
