Programmes for children to enjoy Mid-autumn Festival
Ho Chi Minh City’s Youth Social Work Centre is organising entertainment programmes for children, especially disadvantaged kids on the outskirts of the city and the provinces of An Giang, Tay Ninh and Binh Phuoc to enjoy the Mid-autumn Festival which falls on October 4 this year.

HCM City (VNA) – Ho Chi Minh City’s Youth Social Work Centre is organisingentertainment programmes for children, especially disadvantaged kids on theoutskirts of the city and the provinces of An Giang, Tay Ninh and Binh Phuoc toenjoy the Mid-autumn Festival which falls on October 4 this year.
The festival is annuallyheld on the 15th day of the eighth month of the lunar calendar.
In the programmes,traditional games and food stalls are set up for these children to enjoy.
The centre also ispresenting more than 3,000 gifts and scholarships to children and those whohave excellent school results but financial difficulties.
These programmes started onSeptember 23 and will last until October 1. In HCM City, they were held in theoutlying districts of Can Gio and Cu Chi last weekend.-VNA

The Ho Chi Minh City Food Safety Management Board has begun food inspections of moon cakes, jam, candy and other items made for the Mid-Autumn Festival, which falls on October 4 this year.
Inspections of moon cakes, jams, candies and other foods for the Mid-Autumn Festival will be enhanced nationwide at the request of the Ministry of Health’s Food Safety and Hygiene Department.
The programmes have brought about positive changes to rural infrastructure, comprehensively improved the material and spiritual lives of farmers, and contributed to Vietnam's economic restructuring, said PM Pham Minh Chinh.
The festival highlighted the contributions and robust development of Vietnam's revolutionary press over the past century while promoting press products and showcasing the creativity of Vietnamese journalists.
The programme on sustainable poverty reduction has achieved its annual targets for reducing the poverty rate as assigned by the National Assembly and the Government. It has fulfilled five specific objectives and five five-year goals, and met nine out of 12 indicators related to addressing basic social service shortages.
